This is a blog about PealBase. Instead of cluttering up the PealBase home page with odds and ends I thought it worth trying to include thoughts and issues relevant to PealBase in a blog. Let's see how it works out.
The 1965 peals are being imported into PealBase at the moment and should be available on the website sometime in the first half of July.
Once again Stephen Ivin has scanned the peal pages and where appropriate made corrections. I keep singing Stephen's praises because he managed to train his OCR software to correctly recognise and reproduce the daggers and other symbols used in peal reports to identify ringers for footnotes such as "First Peal". I could only get my OCR package to scan daggers, usually but not consistently, as a 't'; other symbols were inconsistently handled. This became so much of a problem that I was suggesting that it would take about 9 months to process a year's peals.
So much for the first blog. Back to work.
